XT1000 PMR446 Base Station Modifications

Main Modifications Page

PLEASE NOTE: FOR INFORMATION ONLY - MODIFICATIONS ARE MADE ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK

DELBOY ENTERPRISES DOES NOT RECOMMEND OR ENCOURAGE  THE MODIFICATION OF PMR446 RADIOS

Information Supplied Via E-Mail By Peter

1. Turn radio over, remove the 4 screws. Separate the two halves. These are joined together by two wires which connect to the battery compartment.

2. Locate the screw holding the antenna to the main board and remove it. You should be able to pull the Antenna out easily. A standard BNC plug will now fit into the hole made vacant by the removal of the antenna. No soldering is needed as the screw will make contact with the tip of the BNC plug

3. Locate on the left hand side two (2 black jumpers.) Put the bottom jumper on pins 1 and 2 (originally on 2 and 3).

4. Clip the two parts together and go into mode. Channels should start at P1 and go to P0 (10 PMR channels). They should then go 1-99 to give you the 433 to 435Mhz channels(70cm ham band) - See Below

If you want to put it back to the original state just remove BNC, replace antenna and move jumper back to pins 2-3.

Further Information:

Soldered a short wire to the ring of the BNC plug and then soldered the other end to the negative side of the battery terminal, the results in receiving were staggering. I spoke to another PMR user down in Brighton some 60 odd miles away from my location in North London. He said he had no problems hearing me and that I managed to break his squelch. I am using a homebrew antenna - a simple dipole.

I have managed to locate the workshop manual for the XT1000 PMR home base. Same as the DNT DRS1000. A quick look shows rv301 is the squelch, rv101 is the modulation and rv501 is low power setting.

Hi power is controlled by the CPU so no adjustment there.

Best regards and thanks for a great website.
